The oil gas law society is designed to expose first year law students to the energy legal community so that they can explore the various career paths and academic issues related to the energy practice.

The only entirely student run journal in the country devoted exclusively to promoting scholarship in the energy legal field tjogel has published over 3 800 pages of analysis of legal issues affecting the energy industry and has circulated over 9 000 copies to attorneys.

The texas journal of oil gas and energy law tjogel is the newest serial publication at the university of texas school of law and the only student edited journal in the country focused on promoting scholarship in the energy legal field tjogel was formally created and endorsed by the dean in the summer of 2005. The 70th edition of the institute for energy law s annual oil gas law conference will take place in houston on february 21 22 2019. The oil gas and energy resources law ogerl section of the state bar of texas was established in 1938 as the natural resources section and is the oldest section of the state bar of texas. The society helps second and third year students with an identified interest in energy law target specific career paths and industry.

The texas energy law association tela is a 501 c 3 tax exempt organization that supports promotes and encourages legal education research and writing in the area of energy law.
