I covered the three infrared lights with black tape turned on the color night vision and the porch light and i get a good picture that way otherwise it s black and white and you cant see anything but shadows with the porch light on or off. The porch light is super bright. It is also possible that if there is a light above the device it is causing too much reflection on the right side stopping the camera from picking up any further. All i have done is turned on the porch light during the night and turned on the color night vision in video settings. Regularly shutting off the white light on the front will turn off freezing up during a live event.
Now the doorbell will work through the dark hours. This makes absolutely no sense to me as there is a front yard light on a pole no more than about 5 yards from the doorbell. They may not be as high tech as these amazon s advancements especially with the convenience of an app which you can use from anywhere.
